Our mission at Sunny Glen Children’s Home is clear. We are here to provide a loving environment where children can heal from their past trauma and be restored to a new hope by the transforming power of God’s Love and the care from our dedicated team of childcare professionals. Children in the Rio Grande Valley who have been abused, neglected, or forgotten find in Sunny Glen a faith-based home where they can begin again, and our trauma-informed care and counseling meet each child right where they are.
Every child on our campus knows that their life counts, and we want to inspire each of them to realize the tremendous potential within them. We realize that our beliefs shape our values, our values guide our behaviors, and our behaviors create our culture. Starting from that belief, every choice we make builds that culture. On our San Benito campus, it shows up in the ordinary things a hurting child can count on: steady daily routines, staff who stay calm on the hard days, and weekly worship and Bible study right here on campus.
Building that culture takes more than good intentions. Our desire is to create a caring healing environment where our staff build trusting, loving relationships that promote healing and growth in every child, so every member of our team is trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). Through counseling and long-term residential care, we walk with each child as they learn to trust again and grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Sunny Glen Children’s Home from our inception has been a Christian faith-based organization, and we continue to operate with these traditional values while always appreciating the diversity of the children we serve. Founded in 1936, Sunny Glen has welcomed more than 25,000 children. For many, a safe home with us is a bridge rather than a destination: wherever it is possible, we work toward reuniting children with their families.
