Sunny Glen Children’s Home cares for abused, neglected, and abandoned children across the Rio Grande Valley. Based in San Benito, Texas, we are a faith-based nonprofit that meets the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of children and families in crisis. Our ministries work as one continuum of care, from residential foster care through the move into adulthood, so no child leaves the system without support.

Foster Care Program in San Benito
Our residential foster care program gives neglected and abused children a safe home, with a strong emphasis on keeping sibling groups together. Staff use trauma-informed care and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) to help each child feel safe and learn to trust again. As a CARF-accredited children’s home, we hold our residential child care to national standards for quality and safety.
Supervised Independent Living at the Allen House
The Supervised Independent Living (SIL) Center prepares older youth, ages 18 to 21, for the transition out of foster care. Residents build real transitional living skills, including career development, financial literacy, and independence, and receive free housing, utilities, and social services while working or in school.
Poenisch Counseling Center
The Poenisch Counseling Center offers mental health counseling to the RGV community, with a focus on children and families. Services include individual, couples, family, and group therapy, post-adoption counseling, and a dedicated play therapy room. Counseling is open to the public.
Sunny Glen Refugee Home
Our Refugee Home gives refugee children a safe place to heal while they await reconnection with a support system in the USA.
A Continuum of Care
