We offer individual, family, couples, and group counseling to the uninsured and low-income adults in Cameron County. Counseling is provided at no cost, or low rates depending on income. Check back with us frequently as we have plans to accept more insurance and private pay.

Juan Hernandez is the Treatment Director of Sunny Glen Children’s Counseling Services. He graduated with a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from The University of Texas-Pan American in 1989 followed by LPC licensure in 1993, then Texas Board certified LPC Supervisor in 2020. Juan has over 30 years providing counseling to children, adolescents, couples, adults, family, and older adults in the areas of mental health, trauma, substance abuse, and end of life issues. Juan practices Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma care and recovery. Juan is passionate about teaching and supervising graduate students and LPC-Associates in becoming ethical, compassionate, and successful Licensed Professional Counselors. His favorite self-care activities include sailing, birding, and cycling with his wonderful wife, Cecilia.
